Abstract
Ginger is a medicinal plant and considered powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. Ginger nanoparticles (GNPs) isolated from ginger extract and supply carrier for improving drug bioavailability in the cells. This study was carried out to inspect the effect of ginger and its nanoparticles on growth performance and biochemical parameters in induced heat stressed male rats. 42 Wister albino male rats (30-40 days old, 70-100 g body weight) were used. They were divided into six groups, seven animals each. Group I (control group), group II (Ginger group), Group III (Nano ginger group): rats received ginger and GNPs at a dose 50 mg/kg b.wt via oral gavage daily and rats of these groups were kept under room temperature. Group IV (Heat stressed group) (HS- group), group V (HS-ginger group), group VI (HS- nano ginger group): rats received daily ginger and nano ginger at a dose 50 mg/kg b.wt via oral gavage and rats of these groups were exposed to heat 41°C daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM for 1 hour for 3 months. Ginger and GNPs supplementation in experimentally induced heat stress male Wistar rats caused a significant increase in body weight, weight gain and food consumption where there was a decrease in total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), interleukin 6 (IL-6), corticosterone, malondialdehyde (MDA) and heat shock protein 70 (HSP70).It was concluded that heat stress can cause an increase in TC, LDL-C, MDA, IL-6, corticosterone and HSP70 and decreasing growth performance indicators. Ginger and GNPs supplementation succeeded in alleviating the impact of heat stress on heat-stressed Wistar rat model.

Key words: Keywords: Ginger, Ginger nanoparticles, Growth Performance, Heat Stress, Rats.
