Some Surgical Studies on Urogenital Disorders in Cats: Diagnosis and Treatment

Abstract
The present study conducted on 39 cats of different breeds of both sexes, aging 9 months to 10 years. Cats suffered from surgical disorders in the urogenital system. Diagnosis based on clinical, radiological, ultrasonographical and laboratory examination. Data of the current study revealed that 17 cats suffered from female genital surgical disorders including; pyometra (no=6), dystocia (no=5), uterine prolapse (no=1), uterine torsion (no=1), mammary gland tumors (no=2) and mammary gland inflammation (no=2). 22 tom cats suffered from male urogenital disorders, of which 20 cases responded to the surgical treatment including; orchidectomy (n=2), cystotomy (no=15) and urethrotomy (no=3), while 2 cases of pyelonephritis responded to medical therapy. In conclusion, the study approved that pyometra and dystocia were the common disorders in genital system in queens. Meanwhile, bladder stones were the prevalent disorder in urinary system in tom cats.
