Ethological and Physiological Alterations in Female Albino Rat in Compact to Restraining Stress

Abstract
An experiment was designed to investigate the effect of restraint stress on the behavior and physiological alterations of the female albino rat. For this purpose, 16 adult females rat average weight 150-160 gm were divided into two groups, restraint group 8 females’ restraint in a wire mesh one hours for 10 days and the served as control group. Behavior observation was assessed by observing rat day and light periods using infra-red camera by scanning observation. A blood samples were collected at the 1st, 3rd and 10 days of experiment for physiological and biochemical analysis. Results revealed that restraint stress was strong stress as it decreases significantly feeding, drinking, exploration and walking activities, while increase significantly resting both (lying and standing idle) and body care behavior(licking). However, increase significantly triglyceride, albumin, total lipids, cortisol and corticosteroids on the other hand decrease glucose and cholesterol level.
